The Miniature Horse & Pony Society of Ireland (MHPSI) was founded in 2005 and is the first Society in Ireland to be established for the following purposes;
1) To establish a Stud Book for Miniature Horses & Ponies in Ireland
2) To attain approval from the Department of Agriculture which will allow MHPSI to issue EU identity documentation (passports) for all equidae entered in the Miniature Horse & Pony Society of Ireland Stud Book
The Society also aspires to the upgrade of breeding standards through the use of licensed stallions. In addition to goal this the Society aims to achieve higher standards within traceability and documentation by utilising micro-chipping and DNA testing.
The MHPSI works in conjunction with the ISPCA and Horse Welfare on a continuous basis.
